The Assembly Speaker of New Helvetia is the presiding officer, maintaining debate and showing a sign of leadership, inside the Helvetian Assembly. The official office was created by the Federal Charter of 1966. Typically, the speaker is the leader of a powerful coalition of one of the parties of the nation. Currently, Nathaniel Straus of the Helvetian Nationalist Party is the leader of the assembly. The speaker has the ability to send the bill back to committees if he or she shows little confidence in the bill.
