Jump to: navigation, search

Barry Russell Tighe (b. May 19, 1942, York, England, United Kingdom) is a British-born Georgeland journalist and writer, a proponent of "gonzo journalism" as practiced by Hunter S. Thompson. Tighe is an acknowledged fan of Thompson's work. Tighe began his career writing for the student newspaper at the University of Capitalia and became a staff writer for the Globe and Standard in 1983, where he has remained ever since. Primarily a feature columnist, Tighe is also the Political Desk Chief and occasionally reports from overseas, such as a series of columns from Afghanistan and Iraq in 2004. Tighe is known for his sarcasm and exaggeration in his feature columns, as well as his graphic descriptions of unpleasant behaviour.
Tighe has won three Radcliffe Awards, and currently resides in Topstad.
