Created in 474 by Nect, the Conscription policy was introduced as a way of signing people up to battle the attacking Indocti. Once a week, one hundred men and one hundred women are randomly selected to leave the city and fight for the city.
It was introduced so that the rising tide of barbarian activity outside of the city could be contained, and has proven to be remarkably effective. So effective, in fact, that since its creation the walls of Arbitor have not come under attack.
Men and women conscripted by the effect of this policy are made automatic members of the Legion of Nect. They have the lowest rank and if they survive for a week they will have the choice to become a higher ranking officer in the legion and instead guard the wall, Umbriorr.
