Built along the Mtoa River, Defiance was constructed further inland as a precaution to a foreign invasion, keeping the government safer near the mountains of Huria than the old capital city of Kimbilio on the shores of Nyanda. The majority of the city's inhabitants are government workers and military personnel, and more than two million people commute into and out of the city every workweek to work and cycle out personnel on leave. The Defiance Metropolitian Area is home to more than 3.1 million people, the fifth largest in the country.
All three branches of the Hurian government, including the Supreme Commander of Huria, Chancellor of the Federal Senate, and the Procurator of Justice, all of whom each reside in different corners of Defiance. The city is governed by a locally-elected City-Commander, who is vetted by the Advisory Council and War Council before elections, and approved by the Supreme Commander after elections.
