The Emirates War on Terror is an ongoing conflict in the United Emirates.
Since the 1980s the United Emirates began to see a rise in terrorist activity, especially in the southern regions. There were many small liberation front movements. In the early 2000s Al-Qaeda began to operate in Yemen, coordinating attacks into the Emirates alongside groups based in the south. Emirates forces began to lead counterattacks into the south and sometimes into Yemen itself. The Emirates and Yemen got into arguments over this that eventually led to a brief war in 2010. The Emirates emerged victorious from this and as part of its spoils demanded that Yemini forces assist Emirates forces in the fight against the terrorists. By mid-2011 Al-Qaeda was effectively removed from the Emirates; only small units and local rebel groups remain in operation.
