The Empire of Haiti (French: Empire d'Haïti, Haitian Creole: Anpi an Ayiti; and is also known as Haiti or the Haitian Empire) is an empire based on Hispaniola in the Carribean Ocean, but with many colonies in Central and South America. Haiti was founded in 1804 after a slave revolt saw the French who controlled the island overthrown. However, an absolute monarchy established in place of the old republican government by Emperor Jacques I in 1804 after a brief war with the French. Haiti has since grown into powerful, fabulously wealthy empire, with one of the highest GDPs in the world, and a strong military and industrial base.
