Miscellaneous notes |
In the incredibly fast-paced attack trajectories of space-age combat, standard timing devices are too slow to register in time to destroy a craft. Instead, other methods must be devised to activate the explosives on a physical basis. This of course requires the discovery of new plastics fit for the purpose. With it, devices may be created that detonate several times to get through the outer layer of various ships, and then detonate a final charge from within the vulnerable interior of the ship. This makes the tandem charge particularly well suited to vessels with multiple layers of armor, and less so against craft with lighter armor. Otherwise the tandem charge would go through the craft to detonate outside of the vessel.
