Fiat S.p.A., an acronym for Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino (Italian Automobile Factory of Torino), is a Europan automobile manufacturer based in Torino, Alpinia Province.
History[]
Fiat was founded in 1899 by a group of Italain investors. Fiat has also manufactured railroad vehicles, tanks and aircraft in the past. Fiat acquired Lancia in 1981, reorganizing as Fiat Group In 2009 Fiat acquired Chrysler Group, which had recently come out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy. As of 2009, Fiat (not including Chrysler) is the world's ninth largest carmaker as well as Europa's largest carmaker.
