Ossetia (Republic of Ossetia officially) is a country located in Western Asia that gained its independence in 1976. It was founded after a referendum from to United States to Georgia, and rather than be invaded, Georgia gave South Ossetia independence. South Ossetia later became Ossetia after the USSR was restrengthened. After a period of isolation, it opened its doors to modernization from the European Union in 1994, and has been a modern and advanced country ever since. In 2001, it re-established relations with its Caucasian neighbors by founding the Western Asian Alliance, which Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey have joined.

Ossetia is a member of the United Nations and the Western Asian Alliance, but has refused to join either the PAFF or the OIS, as Ossetia views them as the two "warring factors" of the world.

History[]

In 1976, protests began in Tskhinvali calling for Ossetic independence. The Georgian National Police fired on the protesters, which outraged many Western countries. While the USSR would not take action, NATO began to feel presure for its citizens calling to free South Ossetia. An American mission to Georgia gave the country a referendeum. Georgia would either free South Ossetia or face a full NATO retaliation. Georgia, not willing to be invaded, granted South Ossetia its independence.

Republic of Ossetia[]

Seeing that North Ossetia would not be given to them, South Ossetia became the Republic of Ossetia. The first elections where held in 1978, and a full term would last ten years for the President. Ossetia began to rebuild its self in isolation, and fully developed its self as an equal to Georgia. Years passed as Ossetia went on peacefully, and in 1994, Ossetia ended its isolation by allowing the European Union to help modernize the country. In 2001, it founded the Central Asian Alliance with several of its neighbors. In 2005, the Vindisku Act allowed free passage of Alliance citizens through the borders of the member countries, which bolstered Ossetia's economy very much.
