The foreign relations of the Britain are administrated by the Foreign Office of Britain who set foreign policy between Britain and other nations. As of 2015 Britain has embassies in the majority of counties.

During the 19th and 20th centuries Britain was considered to be a superpower with the largest empire in the world. The end of World War Two saw Britain's international standing decline behind the United States and the Soviet Union. In 1956 the Suez Crisis saw Britain's status as superpower end, although it continued to be a powerful nation in international relations, having one of the largest economies in the world and possessing substantial military capabilities being a nuclear weapons state.

Britain is part of several organisation being a permanent member of the League of Nations security council. It is also a member of the G8, G7, G20, Council of Europe, IOSS, OSCE, WTO, and is the leading member of the Commonwealth of Nations.
