George Simmons is the second and current Prime Minster of the New England Republic since his appointment in 2011. Simmons prior served as "Provisional" Secretary of State of the Philadelphia-based United States of America during the Second American Civil War and was subsequently appointed as Minister of International Affairs when the New England Republic was established. In 2011, he succeeded Jeremy Young as Prime Minister, after being appointed by President Kenneth Carmichael with approval of the House of Delegates. Before becoming involved in the Civil War, Simmons was Democratic US Ambassador to Denmark.
