The City of Ghasobe is the capital and second largest city of the Republic of Derhaland. It was originally founded in 438 CE by the Oileánosiar civilization of West Island, although earlier settlements have been recorded near the present day city. The city currently is home to around 100,000 citizens, and occupies 177 kilometers of land. On the southeast, there is a border with the Celtic Sea, and the city is surrounded by lowlands that are good for growing food in.
History[]
In 438, Celtic (more specifically Oileánosiar) settlers founded the city and named it something similar to the current name of Ghasobe. It quickly grew into a center of trade and engineering by 1000 CE. Monuments were built, the most notable being the Temple of Cernunnus. Once the Oile Kingdom peacefully joined the Kingdom of Derho sometime around 1100 CE, their city of Ghasobe, bustling at 25,000 people almost immediately became the capital of the kingdom over the old capital of Zazabe. Ghasobe continued to grow into the eighteenth century, when the Ghasobe Fire of 1792 struck the city and burned down about one half of the city and killed 3000 people, although most of the monuments evaded destruction. Ghasobe was rebuilt somewhat more resistant to fire and to the present day continues to grow and flourish.
Education[]
Ghasobe has an excellent school district. The district that owns the school has bought about 20 square kilometers of land for a school campus. There are 4 levels of school, one is Grade 0 through Grade 2, another is Grade 3 through Grade 5, a third is Grade 6 through Grade 8. High schools consists and Grade 9 through Grade 12. After a student completes their mandatory schooling, they may or may not enter a university or college. Most who do will attend the University of Ghasobe, which sprawls over another 20 square kilometers of land with various medical and scientific facilities as well as dorms.
Law Enforcement[]
The Ghasobe Metropolitan Police is the official police force of the entire metropolitan area. There are currently about 500 police officers employed (75% are men, 25% are women) by the police force. The police use about 80 police cars from Fíoracarr Motors, all with Apple MacBook laptops installed in the center. There is also 8 police stations, one in each of the districts.
Justice[]
The Ghasobe Local Court, the main judicial organ of the city, is headed in the Ghasobe City Courthouse, a large buildings decorated with a dome reminiscent of Derhish architecture while also possessing Ionic columns. The court consists of 7 justices as opposed to the usual nine or three in other places, for a seemingly unknown reason. The court usually takes about 2 or 3 civil cases a day, plus most criminal cases that pop up.
