Hanna Kövér (born 14 May 1982) is an Agian activist and politician. She is the current Leader of the Green Party, and was the Member of National Assembly (MNA) for Jura between 2006 and 2014.
Kövér was elected Leader of the Green Party at the age of just 23, making her the youngest leader of a major political party in Agian history. She was the Green Party's nominee for Chief Minister of the The Wave in the 2010 and 2014 elections.
In 2004, Kövér founded, and was (until 2006) co-director of, EcoObserv, an independent thinktank looking at the role of NGOs in green policy implementation.
She lives with her family in South Lugano, Santa Maria.
Early life[]
Born in Jura, Santa Maria, on 14th May 1982, Kövér grew up in Silverbay, where her father, Tódor, worked as a fisherman, until the death of mother when Kövér was two. Her father never remarried raising Kövér with the assistance of both her paternal and maternal grandparents.
Kövér was educated at Silverbay West Primary School, followed by Santa Giuliana's School, both in Silverbay. She then attended Jura University, graduating in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Politics and Public Relations, and then in 2007 with a PhD in Political Science.
Early political career[]
Kövér joined the Green Party in 2004, during the formative days of the independent thinktank, EcoObserv.
Leader of the Green Party (2006–)[]
Kövér became Leader of the Green Party and Member of National Assembly for Jura in the 2006 Assembly election while still a PhD student at the Jura University, having become a member of the Green Party just two years earlier.

Kövér married Melati Surya, an Agian-Indian activist, in a private ceremony, in December 2008. The couple live in South Lugano, Santa Maria, with Surya's daughter, Ellora, and their Norfolk terrier, Asha.
