The Home Office is a ministerial department of the United Republic of Great Britain government tasked with the responsiblity for immigration, security, and law and order, and is responsible for the police, GB Border Agency and the Security Service MI6 (Secret Intelligence Service). Also responsible for issues including drugs, counter-terrorism and ID cards, and formerly the Prison Service and Probation Service, which are now part of the Ministry of Justice.
