Hustings was a Georgeland television drama series that aired in 1986. The show concerned the rival political campaigns of Doug Halloway (Bob Adams) and Linda Freeman (Julia Symons), respective Labour and Tory candidates for the (fictional) seat of Mount Ellington in a general election. There were 13 episodes produced. The series was politically-themed, but the essential drama of the program came from the personal lives of the two lead characters and the way they interacted with each other and their staff. Freeman's campaign manager, Ed Bowen, was played by Martin Smith. The program ended on July 7, 1986, with the outcome of the election still unknown (had the series been picked up for a second season, as was hoped, the election result would have become known).
