Khae Leeyao (born Khae Chao-fa Leeyao, Thai: บางแคเจ้าฟ้าลียาว, 5 July 1973) is the 17th and incumbent Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Lan Na. She was born in Huai Sai, Moeang Soeua and was a teacher at the National University of Huai Sai from 1997 till 2012, when she took the presidential office. Between 2002, she also served as governor of the province of Siboya. She has one daughter from a previous relation, Suchin Leeyao.
Khae Leeyao was born on 5 July, 1973 in Huai Sai, Moeang Soeua province. She was the second daughter to Nathawat Leeyao and Fong Shaoqing. Her Lannese father was the Chief Justice for the Lannese Supreme Court, while her Chinese mother was an economist. They both married in 1970, and Fong Shaoqing moved to Lan Na in the same year, where they settled in Huai Sai. Their first daughter, Saeng Leeyao, was born on October 11, 1971. Almost two years later, their second daughter Khao Leeyao, was born on July 5, 1973. Nathawat Leeyao was unable to tend to his children a lot, due to his job, which led Fong Shaoqing to largely raise her children by herself.
At the age of 4, she attended to the Wongrutiyan Elementary School in Huai Sai, and graduated at her 12th. Then, she went on to the Huai Sai Municipal Secondary School and graduated at her 18th. After her graduation, she took two years off to travel around Lan Na first, and then around the world. In Khae Leeyao's autobiography, she explained:
|“||After I graduated from my secondary school, I was enthralled by the idea of seeing the rest of the world. The internet had just began developing, and global transportation took huge leaps in the advancement of technology. I hadn't decided on my future career yet, but I figured that visiting other countries could be very beneficial.||”|
