The Mars program (programma Marte) was a probing mission carried out by the Europa Space Agency from 1979-1984.
The Mars program was begun in 1977 with preliminary research. The mission officially began with the launch of the Mars 1 probe on a Da Vinci 4 rocket in 1979. This and other subsequent probes to photos of Mars and took atmospheric samples (similar to the early stages of the Luna Space Program). There were 6 missions carried out until 1984, after which it was succeeded by the Vulcan Space Program.
