 Mikael Järvinen (Born 12th April 1981) is a Finnish-American politician, and junior United States senator from Michigan. Jones formerly served as the representative for XXXXX district in the Michigan State Legislature from 2002 to 2008, but announced his intention to enter into national politicals later the same year. 

Only son of an affluent Finnish-American family from Marquette, Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Mikael was taught about his Finnish heritage early during his youth, learning the Finnish Language and attending Finnish cultural events in the area. Mikael has said that he is interested in his heritage and has traced his geneology all the way back to the city of Tampere where his family is originally from. 

Mikael is an outspoken liberal, and supports the proposed statehood of Superior as the 51st state. Mikael has been known to support social liberal ideologies.
