The New Holland, officially known also as Province of New Holland is a state of the Republic of Atlion, located on the central north of the island, bordered by Valenmark to the north and northwest, Atlantia to the east, Athens to the south, and Edwardsland to the southwest.
New Holland is known for its high snowy mountains. It is the highest state in the country, along with Athens. Besides having the largest parks and nature reserves, such as Glacier National Park located in the Municipality of Glacier near the border with the State of Athens.
The New Holland economy is based on mining, especially iron, nickel and coal. But it also has a well developed agriculture with sheep breeding and dairy cattle, and tourism has increased over the past two decades.
Due to the massive Dutch colonization, mainly from the fifteenth century, the state was called the Province of New Holland. A tribute to former County of Holland, the most politically and economically important region of the Dutch Republic. The term 'province' in the official name of the state is also a reference to the Dutch Republic, which was officially known as the Republic of the Seven United Provinces.
Politics and Government
Under its present constitution (adopted in 1974), New Holland is governed by the same three branches that govern all states of the Atlion: the executive branch, consisting of the Stadtholder of New Holland and the other independently elected constitutional officers; the legislative branch, consisting of the unicameral General-States of New Holland; and the judicial branch, consisting of the state's highest court, the Court of Appeals of New Holland, and lower courts. The state has two Senators.
