The phase disruptor negates the quantum flow through space-time so that any attacks directed at an affected vessel instead contributes to its integrity. This is thus very useful for direction toward a friendly vessel that has suffered tremendous damage. Directing the fleet's own attacks instead serves to rapidly repair it. In fact, it may to an extent replace the need for repairer craft altogether except for smaller vessels. The phase disruptor starts off doing a bit of damage, enough to wipe out any strike craft or corvette it hits.
