Mechanisms have been devised that can effectively channel the raw destructive power of plasma within magnetic coils without the need for the exterior shells of plasma missiles. They can beam plasma at their targets, and can at any time shift their targets around with ease, making the plasma beam useful for cutting through swarms of strike craft and even corvettes in a sweeping path. Meanwhile, devices installed internally, plasma vents, can be useful for purging a ship of anything that has come on board, ie. boarding soldiers and nanites, keeping the ship under its owners' control.
