Prince Randolph, Duke of Gilo was born Randolph Andrew Charleston in an upper middle-class suburb of Philadelphia in 1976.
He attended the University of Pennsylvania from 1996 to 2000, hoping to become a professor at his school. In 1999 he met the newly-crowned Queen Julia, visiting the city during her tour in the United States.
In 2000 Charleston left the United States for Nalatia. He then became a member of the Church of Nalatia. Rumors abounded that the couple would wed due to the move and conversion.
They wed on July 31, 2001 in the Sapruna Cathedral in Gilo. It was a relatively small, private ceremony with no cameras allowed inside. Only family members and friends were invited.
Consorts and other members of the Royal Family have no official constitutional role and have no duties. Prince Randolph appears in public only on rare occassions, unlike Queen Julia.
