The municipality lies along the shoreline of Sjonmer Sea. The city center in the southern part is interesting, because it doesn't have tall buildings (the tallest being 15 m). That means, it is interesting in a way, that there are no sights or anything else interesting. Most of the center consists of old houses, which are not spectacular, but preserved as pieces of cultural heritage.
The city was founded in 1495 as a center to civilize pagans of the Ojidijes Outback.
