The Continuum, is a collqiual term for the region of space known by mankind, this consists of the Solar System and other known systems. The phrase 'The Continuum' is used often, e.g 'Best Planet in the Continnum.'
The Solar System is made up of 8 planets, over 30 major moons and 4 dwarf planets, orbiting the G-Type Mid Sequence Star (Yellow Dwarf Star), Sol. They are as follwing; (listed in orbital order, only major moons listed)
The Inner Planets are the planets closest to the Sun which is made up of the systems terrestrial planets and asteroids. Three of the Inner Planets are currently inhabited, Earth, Venus and Mars, aswell as Earth's moon.
- Venus - Terraformed 2085
- Earth - Homeworld
- Luna - Terraformed 2090
- Mars - Terraformed 2085
The Region known as the Outer Planets consists of the Gas Giants and their moons, aswell as many comets including the centuars. Due to their further proximity to the Sun, the solid objects in the outer regions contain a higher proportion of volatiles such as water, ammonia and methane, than the rocky denizens of the inner Solar System, as the colder temperatures allow these compounds to remain solid. The Moons of Jupiter are being investigated for possible future missions and terraforming.
