Union Space Center antenna infrastructure in Tromsø comprises two independent multi-frequency uplink and receiving antenna systems in L-, S-, and X-band. Various demodulation schemes can be handled. In addition Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace is hosting two Digital Globe owned antenna systems at the station in Tromsø. Earth Observation activities are the main focus for the station in Tromsø. These activities include downloading, processing, analysis, disseminating and storing of data for near real-time and off-line Earth Observation products and monitoring services. The ground station in Tromsø also operates a Local User Terminal as a part of the international search and rescue programme, COSPAS/SARSAT. This service supplies national rescue authorities with life-saving information and entails a highly reliable round-the-clock operation.
