Ubayyid Industries is a multi-field umbrella company, owned by East Saharan enterpeneur and businessman Mahmed El-Ubayyid. Ubayyid Industries was set up in 2004, as a building contractor for resorts and hotels in Egypt, it grew largely through the years, until the buy-out of the Orascom Group in 2010, which was then Eastern Sahara's largest conglomerate.

Background

Ubayyid Industries was set up as Ubayyid Construction in 2004 by Mahmed El-Ubayyid, as a building contractor for resorts and hotels in Egypt. As the company grew by 2006 Ubayyid Hotels and Development was created, a subsidiary of Ubayyid Construction, created to manage Ubayyid Hotels. In 2006 MotaKun was set up personally by El-Ubayyid, claiming he wanted to bring new jobs and industry to the Port Said area. The company became known as Ubayyid Industries, and grew to be the second largest corporation in Egypt, until the buy-out of Egypts then largest company in 2010, the Orascom Group. It took over its assets from Construction and Hotel Management, aswell as IT Support.

MotaKun Industries

MotaKun Industries is the largest automobile company in Eastern Sahara, set up in 2006, by Mahmed El-Ubayyid, claiming he wanted to, 'bring a new era to the Middle Eastern automobile industry.' MotaKun produce the Gazal, which is the first fully produced East Saharan vehicle, with over 18,000 produced since its launch in 2011. MotaKun also produce the Eastern Sahara's 'national car,' the Runna. MotaKun's headquarters are located in Port Said, aswell as its main production facility.

Ubayyid Construction

Ubayyid Construction was the original name of Ubayyid Industries, set up in 2004. Originally offering contracts for hotels and real estate developments, competing against Orascom Construction. Ubayyid Construction became the dominant construction corporation in the Egypt, and later the Eastern Sahara in 2010, after the aquistion of Orascom Construction. The company is based headquartered in Nile City Towers in Cairo.

Ubayyid Hotels and Development

Ubayyid Hotels and Development was the second company of the group, created in 2006, with the aquisition of 3 hotels in Sharm El Sheikh and Taba. The company maintained a small portfolio until the aquistion of the Orascom Group in 2010, where Orascom Hotels operated several hotels, particularly the El Gouna Red Sea hotels. UHD now operates over 70 hotels in Eastern Sahara, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates. UHD also contracts Real Estate developments, developments include Taba Heights, and El Gouna Real Estate.
