Porciúncula - Prime Minister Heartwell has stated that she will not call for a snap election despite mounting pressure from the Democratic-Republican opposition to do so.

As Heartwell's coalition maintains a majority in the House of Commons, no motions of confidence have been seriously proposed, so instead, Democratic-Republican lawmakers have attempted to appeal to the Prime Minister's sense of democracy to hold fresh elections following the resignation of Prime Minister McComb. The Democratic-Republicans have had no such luck, however, as a new statement from Heartwell's office states "It is of the opinion of the Prime Minister that the people continue to have faith in their government and as long as she commands the confidence of her colleagues in the House of Commons, she will continue to execute her duties as Prime Minister." The statement was criticized by Margaret Chan, Leader of the Opposition, who stated the Government has elected an "Unexperienced lunatic" and in doing so has "Denied a voice to the people." Heartwell appears to remain intent on governing Sierra to a full-term, already sponsoring major legislation relating to disaster relief and immigration. She has pledged to work with Opposition leaders to come to bi-partisan solutions to issues she has deemed 'top priority'.

Heartwell fired back at some members of the Opposition, however, criticizing them for "Attempting to remove me rather than work on the issues that matter to Sierrans." Heartwell also contends that holding snap elections at this time would "Set back national healing,"; "What we need is a strong and stable government, committed to working for all Sierrans," she continued.
