The Voters' Identification Act was a bill passed by the United Republic National Council and signed into effect by President Walter Montgomery on May 28, 2012, establishing a series of protocols to reduce voting fraud as seen in the 2011 presidential elections. It also eases the voting process of guaranteeing identification cards that may be used at the voting machine to "check in" the voter and ensuring that the voter can only vote once. As of 2015, all voting machines used for federal elections require an identification card and 99% of Libertonians who are capable of voting now posses that card.
